An open letter to my customers

For the past three years, I’ve been waiting for this moment.

To my customers:

I am writing this letter to thank everyone for their support and to reflect on my business during the past three years. When I first started Import Bible, I had a simple idea for a website that would act as a bible of sorts for car enthusiast such as myself. This basic idea evolved and eventually I started to design and sell shirts instead. In the first couple months I created my first design and thought I would become instantly rich. I admit I was naive jumping into a business I knew nothing about, and this was evident because I only ended up selling a few shirts in the first two months.

The results took a big blow to my morale, but I wasn’t going to give up. I took a year off to study the different car cultures and eventually developed five original designs that I felt were worthy to place my label on. During that time the norm was to sell car shirts for about $10, but they often lack quality and there was no attention to detail or accuracy. My shirts were priced at $25 but the process for each design was long and tedious. It was a slow start, but my business was starting to develop.

I often get asked “Are you rich yet?” and “Why do you bother with Import Bible if you are not making much?” I do understand their point of view but I believe that I have come a long way with my business and I feel very successful. Being based in Edmonton is a challenge because the car culture scene was minuscule compared to other places such as California and Australia. I started my business from scratch, my goal was to create quality goods that focus on designs that would appeal to different groups. Over time I’ve been more involved in the car community and love contributing my thoughts and products.

On a personal note, I am nearly finished school and for the last eight months I am required to work in order to complete my degree. I saw this as an opportunity to work on Import Bible and I am happy to announce that I will be working on it full time. In conclusion I would like to thank everyone for their ongoing support and Import Bible would not exist if it wasn’t for you. Thanks!
