SLR – of the car variety

Ah the McLaren SLR, a very interesting super car from Mercedes Benz. I remember this car fondly after seeing it for the first time on Top Gear, Clarkson used it to race Hammond and May. This car is very unique compared to other super cars from the quirky front tilting hood, side exhausts and front mounted engine. I had the privilege of shooting this car for Garage Works and Avant Garde Motorsports.

The first thing you notice about the car is how long the front is, it’s nearly the same length as the body and rear combined. The second thing you notice is the amount of “blades” on the car, the side, hood and rims. Heck, even the interior has blades on the dash board! However the best thing you notice about the car is the engine noise, it’s really hard to describe: a cross between a muscle car v8, a Harley Davidson and a slight hint of supercharger whine. Or how Clarkson put it “It sounds like the god of thunder gargling a hammer”.
