While browsing on Twitter I caught wind that Jonas of LRG passed away, I didn’t want to believe it since he was only 34 and runs one of the most successful clothing companies out there. Sadly it turns out its true. Jonas was one of the co-founders of LRG a very successful clothing company, he helped pave the way for many independent labels.

BAPE, one of the pioneers of luxury street brands based in Japan, was notoriously known for it’s famous ape logo and stylish camouflage pattern. Working with the most prestigious and established brands in the world BAPE seemed unstoppable. So when news of BAPE’s sale to fashion group I.T. came around, many people were left scratching their heads not only because of the sudden news but also the price, 2.5 million. I’ve been waiting for other articles to come up about the purchase before I posted about this on my blog so that my readers could get a better understanding of what happened. The sale of the company came as a surprise to me since BAPE is known for extremely high priced items, we’re talking about $100 shirts and $400 hoodies here!

Gestalten, a company that serves video portraits of innovators in the creative field, had the chance to interview Shepard Fairey. For those who don’t know Shepard, he is the mastermind behind the brand Obey and is also known for his street art. The interview covers his motives behind his street art and also the changes he has experienced while growing older.

I know it’s a bit late but I just had to post this up, one of my favorite brands The Hundreds collaborated with Garfield (which happens to be my favorite childhood comic) last year and produced a variety of awesome products ranging from shirts, hats, mugs and even a skateboard. Luckily, The Hundreds is still carrying some of the collaboration pieces here so buy up a storm! As part of my daily ritual, I love to read various blogs & websites to get inspiration. One of my favorite blogs, The Sartorialist, is a photo blog that contains pictures of fashionable people in various trendy cities. What I love about this blog is that the models are just ordinary people on the streets who have a unique sense of style. Scott Schumann runs The Sartorialist which over the past couple of years has seen tremendous growth and he even has a book (which I own) containing many pictures that you can find on his website. While other companies would be content with a simple colour combination and call it a day. DMC worked with the team at Nike to create a one of a kind shoe inspired by the legendary DeLorean. Aviators are the latest thing now a days, but little did I know that Porsche Design was well ahead of the game. When Porsche Design was first established in the 1970′s, one of their first products they made were sunglasses. These aviators were back then but have been discontinued, till now. As part of the Porsche’s Heritage Collection, Porsche Design have remade 2 of their popular sunglasses. One of the coolest features about these sunglasses is that the lenses can be switched out. Priced around $250 – 490 these sunglasses won’t set you back too much compared to Porsche’s other gear.

One of the few street wear companies making great looking and original gear. REBEL8 is a clothing company that produces products with designs inspired by skate, graffiti and tattoo culture. Sounds like a weird mix but the results speaks for themselves. Their latest summer release, in conjunction with their new site gives us a glimpse of things to come from the company. There’s no questioning the amount of damage the BP oil spill has caused, several companies have come up with fundraisers to help aid in the effort to clean up the disaster. Trademarket, a New York design studio has created a t-shirt to help raise money for the National Wildlife Federation to help clean up the spill, 100% of the proceeds will be donated.
