VIP tuning culture originated from Japan and has slowly made its way to North America. While not nearly as popular as the JDM craze, it definitely has its fans. While only few can pull off the super slammed stance, many enthusiasts are envious of their aggressive looks. Luke from Maiham Media examines why people love VIP styled cars.

During the unveiling of the GT-86 at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show Toyota design chief Dezi Nagaya filmed a detail behind the scenes about designing the GT-86. The video is split into four parts: 2000GT heritage, exterior design, interior design and the 86 logo. Chief engineer Tetsuya Tada also give viewers an exclusive interview about the upcoming car.

Well it didn’t take long before for enthusiasts to tear a part the 86 and change it up! Dino Dalle Carbonare/Luke Huxham was able to get some footage of Manabu Orido’s freshly modded Toyota 86 at Mobarar circuit. As you can see the 86 is now powered by a V8 from a Lexus IS-F.

The 86/FR-S/GT-86 (god wish they would have simplify the name) is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated cars in the car scene. Enthusiasts are starving for a truthful, well filmed review of the new sports car. Leave it up to Chris Harris to deliver the goods, with limited amount of track time Chris lets his viewers know if it was worth the wait.

Well another Super Bowl is done and another team is crying but as usual car manufactures paid big bucks to show off their newest commercials. This year Automakers took a lot of the air time, most of which were great commercials. I tuned in to watch the super bowl but was pretty sad to see that most of US commercials were replaced with boring Canadian ones. Ah the Toyota Supra one of the best cars Toyota produced and one of the last sport cars Toyota made. The Supra will always have a strong following because of its voluptuous body and famed 2JZ-GTE engine. Le Manoir productions captured some great Supra meets around France, visiting local drag races and cruises. I’ll never get sick of the sound a Supra makes when it’s floored.

Part of me is crying inside as I write this, Toyota recently launched the Crazy Car Project in hopes of changing the way people think about driving environmental friendly vehicles. Now I can think of several ways of doing this but I would never take a classic car like the Toyota 2000GT and retro fit it with a solar powered electric drive train.

This month at the North American International Auto Show 2012 Ken Gushi unveiled what he would be driving in the upcoming Formula Drift season. Unsurprisingly he will be piloting a new Scion FR-S, obviously a stock FR-S wouldn’t do so Ken teamed up with Cosworth, KW Suspension, Sparco and RAYS to tune to car. Not much is known about the car besides the fact that it is turbo charged!

After years of teasing from Toyota, a ton of press images of the production FT-86 were released to the masses. The FT-86 will simply be called the 86 in Japanese, GT 86 in European and FR-S in the American markets. Japanese car website lovecars.jp also got a chance to do a short review of the 86, video after the jump!

Even after hitting the mother load of information about the upcoming FR-S /FT-86, more information leaked about the car. FT86Club leaked out several pages detailing the exact specifications and key features of the car. Interestingly a full list of TRD parts that will be available for the FR-S / FT-86 were also leaked out.
