Series 8 Update
2014 turned out to be a great year for Import Bible. With strong releases throughout the year and my collaboration with Erica Nagashima. For my winter line I wanted to try something new, “midnight” prints feature a tonal print for a subtle look. Three new shirts join my line up: “Seasoned” features the WRX STI family manga style, while “Wolfpack” highlights the similarities of the Golf GTI line and Mach V a nod to one of my childhood shows Speed Racer. Two old designs return: “Life Begins” a popular shirt that only saw a limited release and “Type G” one of my first designs.
Life Begins Shirt
The DC2 ITR is one of the most idolized cars from the 90s, carrying the reputation of best front wheel drive. Part of the cars success is the B18C engine, a potent 1.8L engine known for its red cover and VTEC. The Japanese script reads “Where life begins” – a phrase I’d imagine people like to tell themselves after experiencing VTEC.
Mach V Shirt
This design is a nod to Speed Racer or Mach GoGoGo, a kick arse anime/manga series that gained popularity in North America. The series follows Speed Racer’s adventures featuring memorable characters like Pops, Chim Chim and the mysterious Racer X. Of course you can’t talk about Speed Racer without mentioning the Mach 5, a high tech racecar that would deploy gadgets by pressing buttons on the steering wheel.
Seasoned Shirt
Popular because of its proven AWD performance the Impreza STI has been a staple enthusiast car ever since its introduction. Its performance in all weather conditions (especially winter) makes it a highly recommended car in Canada. While the good ol days of GD body style are long gone, Subaru is still making the STI in controversial body styles.
Type G Shirt
This Super Street cover story highlighted the Corolla which defeated Supra’s, Skylines, and Silvias. One of the most memorable photos depicted is a bandanna wrapped around the steering column of the AE86. Quirky detail like these make builds memorable!
Wolfpack Shirt
The Golf is a compact hatchback known for its combination of driving characteristics, size and hatch. Spanning 7 generation the GTI is a tuned up version of the Golf, which is admired by many enthusiast who call themselves VAG owners.
